Acan

This coral has shared corallite walls unlike its close relative Acanthastrea lordhowensis. Outer edges of the polyps are raised slightly above the inside (mouth). Colors vary tremendously. They can be any color or any mixture of any number of colors. Can be seen encrusting over live rock or plating.

Blastomussa

Relatively large fleshy polyps that cover the skeleton structure when expanded. Forms small to medium sized colonies when tend to look something like brain corals when fully expanded. Blastomussa is a fairly rare coral.

Brain Coral

Brain coral is a common name given to several genera of coral which are characterized by the spheroid shape of their colonies, and by the grooves and channels on their surface, which resemble the folds on the surface of the human brain. Brain corals are in the taxonomic family Faviidae.

Bubble Coral

Bubble corals are characterized by having large water filled bubbles (vesicles) covering large sharp sepia. The vesicles are expanded during the day and look like cream colored grapes. During the night the vesicles are deflated and tentacles become apparent.

Cup Coral

Cup Corals, though they may appear to grow slowly, can engulf large areas over long time periods. They have unique shapes and textures, and can add a great deal of interest to a reef aquarium. When placing a Cup Coral in your aquarium, you should allow it some space. Although it may not appear to grow quickly, it will grow steadily, and within a few years it may occupy a larger area than might have been expected.
